  1. What is the Animal Friends Insurance referral programme?

Our referral programme provides the functionality to an internet user (known as a ‘referrer’) to introduce one of our products or services to a different internet user (known as a ‘recipient’) by means of a personalised promotional email or post on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter . Should the recipient subsequently purchase one of our products or services by clicking on the link in a referral email or social network that we have provided, then you, the referrer will receive a reward. Note that sales need to be validated, so in some instances we may need to await the expiry of the returns policy timeframe before you can receive your reward as a referrer.

  3. How does the programme work?
  4. The referral programme allows our website visitors (referrers) to introduce products or services found on our website to their friends, family members, colleagues or other contacts (recipients) via email.

    You can create a referral email by selecting a product or service on our website or promotional email and responding to a referral trigger point. Clicking the trigger point takes you to a simple form where you provide your name and email address along with the name(s) and email address(s) of the recipient(s) you wish to contact and a personal message.

    When the recipient receives the referral email, they can review the benefits of the product or service as described in your message and our own promotional material.

    If the recipient makes a purchase at our website within 30 days, our system will record this as a ‘successful sale’ resulting from your referral.

    Finally, we will send you a ‘successful sale’ email explaining how to obtain your reward and how long it will take to receive it.

    Our programme also allows you to tell your friends via a ‘post’ on Facebook or Twitter about our products or services. You are invited to do this at the end of the email referral process. You will receive the same reward as an email referral should one of your friends click on your post, visit our website and purchase one of the designated products or services.

  5. How will I get my reward?
  6. Once the recipient has made a purchase and the sale has been validated, you will receive a ‘successful sale’ email explaining the steps that you need to take in order to gain your reward and an estimate of how long it will take to be despatched.

  7. Does my recipient have to purchase the product that I recommend for me to get my reward?
  8. Our referral emails are purely promotional and carry no obligation to the recipient or the referrer as to which policy they purchase. However Accident Only policies purchased by the recipient are void from this promotion.

    Your recipient may decide to purchase a different product or service from the one that you recommended. You will still be eligible for your reward.

  9. How long will it take to get my reward
  10. Once the recipient has made a purchase from us and the sale has been validated by us, you will receive a ‘successful sale’ email explaining the steps that you need to take in order to gain your reward, along with an estimate of how long it will take to be despatched.

  11. Can I send multiple referrals?
  12. Yes, the system allows you to send a referral to up to five friends at once, or to come back later and make more referrals.

  13. Can I refer by Facebook or Twitter
  14. Yes, you have the ability to post a referral into your Facebook or Twitter account at the end of the email referral process. You will receive the same reward as an email referral should one of your friends click on your post, visit our website and purchase one of the designated products or services.

  15. Do I need permission from the recipient?
  16. Yes, you need to make sure that you have the recipient’s consent to send the referral email.

  17. The recipient never got the referral email. What went wrong?
  18. There is a chance that it may have landed in their spam folder. We take every possible step to ensure that this is not the case but cannot guarantee that this doesn’t occur. Please ask the recipient to check their spam folder. If the email isn’t there, you will need to start the referral from the beginning.

  19. The recipient made a purchase, but I never received an email so I couldn’t claim my reward. What went wrong?
  20. In order for us to link your recipient’s purchase back to you, their web browser must have cookies enabled. We also advise that they click on the link in your email before making their purchase. If you believe that your recipient has made a purchase but you haven’t received your reward, please contact our customer service department

  21. What are the tax implications of gaining a reward?
  22. Rewards that you obtain from this service could be interpreted as a taxable event and you should consult a tax advisor in order to clarify this point.

  26. Your data is transferred from your web browser to our referral system by means of an encrypted data format (SSL). Our data warehouse is protected from the internet by a set of physical firewalls including intrusion detection. Your data is stored within our data warehouse in an encrypted format and is only made available to the system administrators and our marketing teams. Your data will not be transferred outside the European Union.

  28. The referral programme uses cookies in order to identify when a recipient has clicked on a link in a referral email. This provides the ability for us to tie any subsequent purchase or application back to your referral. No personal details are stored within this cookie as part of this mechanism.
